Stockroom Supervisor

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, On-call weekend duty rotates every three weeks.

Job Title: Stockroom Operations Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Stockroom Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily stockroom operations, managing inventory accuracy, and ensuring materials are stored and distributed efficiently. This role supports the organization by maintaining an orderly stockroom, leading a team, and using inventory systems to track and report stock levels. The Stockroom Operations Supervisor must be detail-oriented, organized, and skilled in using systems like SAP or WMS. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for optimizing stockroom processes and supporting operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management Systems

  • Manage stock levels using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and inventory management tools.

  • Ensure real-time, accurate tracking, reporting, and replenishment of inventory to support production and operational requirements.

  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce shrinkage, loss, and damage to inventory.

Warehouse Operations

  • Supervise all stockroom functions, including receiving, storage, material issuance, and distribution.

  • Enforce warehouse organization standards, ensuring logical layout, proper labeling, and accessibility of materials.

  • Maintain clean and efficient stockroom environments aligned with lean warehousing best practices.

Material Handling

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety compliance of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

  • Train and certify team members in equipment operation, promoting a safe work environment.

Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Apply working knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes to align stockroom operations with upstream and downstream functions.

  • Collaborate with purchasing, planning, and logistics teams to resolve inventory and material availability challenges.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze inventory metrics to identify trends, forecast needs, and drive improvements in accuracy and efficiency.

  • Generate and deliver regular performance reports to management, supporting operational decision-making and strategic planning.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and mentor stockroom staff to ensure team performance and adherence to operational standards.

  • Schedule shifts, assign responsibilities, and monitor daily tasks for accuracy and timeliness.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, address team concerns, and foster a positive, accountable work culture.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety protocols across all stockroom activities.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and proactively address potential risks or hazards.

  • Ensure team members understand and follow proper procedures for handling materials and equipment.

Process Improvement

  • Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in stockroom workflows and recommend process enhancements.

  • Support the implementation of new tools and technologies that boost productivity, accuracy, and safety.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean or Six Sigma principles.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align stockroom performance with broader business goals.

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, internal departments, and supply partners to ensure customer satisfaction and operational alignment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain logistics.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory tracking tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage, train, and motivate teams.

  • Strong knowledge of logistics workflows and warehouse safety regulations.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in inventory or warehouse management (e.g., CPIM, CLTD, OSHA 30).

  • Experience with lean warehouse practices or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Work Environment

This role is performed in a stockroom or warehouse environment and requires regular standing, bending, and lifting. The Stockroom Supervisor must be adaptable to shifting priorities and capable of managing multiple tasks in a high-demand, fast-paced setting.
